Exam

The eligibility for getting this certificate is passing an exam. The exam is 4 hours long with 125 questions that need to be solved by the aspirant. In order to pass, a candidate has to get at least 70 percent marks. However, the cut-score could range from 60% to 85%.

Age Requirements

To be eligible for the exam, one needs to be at least 18 years old. However, in case one is under 18, then they need to submit a written consent of their parent or legal guardian. Along with that a supporting letter from their institution of higher learning is also required to be submitted to the accredited training center/EC-Council.

Application and Retake

In order to apply for the exam, a candidate has to pay a $500 fee which is non-refundable. The application process takes around 5-10 working days to get completed. If one seeks to retake the exam, then they could purchase retake exam requests by writing to feedback@eccouncil.org. It is suggested that the application form is submitted before 90 days, as it is valid for a period of 90 days period.

Certification and Training

In order to prepare for the exam, a candidate could either-

1. Take official training

The training could be in any format, for example, instructor-led training, or computer-based training, etc.

2. Attempt without official training

If a candidate wishes to take the certification exam without any training, then the following below mentioned conditions need to be fulfilled.
• Have two years of IT experience.
• Pay a fee of $100, which is non-refundable.
• Purchase an online exam preparation voucher which is available on EC-Council web store.
• Submit a completed exam eligibility form.

As the exam is rigorous, it is suggested that a candidate take the official route and get training before appearing for the exam. There are several coaching institutes which provide coaching for this exam and a candidate could enroll with them also.
